Arkady Gorenstein

Prof. Arkady Gorenstein was born on July 6, 1941, in Kherson, former USSR. He studied medicine in Leningrad and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1978. He combined a successful medical career with IDF reserve service, serving as a senior physician at Hadassah and Wolfson Hospitals, where he founded the pediatric surgery department. Together with Prof. Ami Cohen, he contributed to the Save a Child’s Heart organization. The book is based on thorough archival research and firsthand interviews. Gorenstein joins the tradition of Russian physician-writers, including Anton Chekhov, Mikhail Bulgakov, and Saul Tchernichovsky.
