She has published several influential books, including The Workers’ Health Fund in Eretz Israel: Kupat Holim, 1911–1937 (University of Rochester Press, 2002), Health and Zionism: The Israeli Health Care System, 1948–1960 (University of Rochester Press, 2008), and Alexandra Belkind: The Story of a Pioneering Jewish Woman Doctor (with Zipora Shehory-Rubin and Itay Bahur, 2012).

Aya Bar Oz is a health sociology researcher and doctoral candidate at the University of Toronto. Her work focuses on patients’ rights, health-related social movements, and the relationship between patients and the healthcare system in Israeli society.
