Uri turns slowly, gives her one of those looks, then shifts his gaze back to Rinat. As if to say, in unmistakable language: You? I couldn’t care less.
Yafit blushes furiously, and I swallow a sigh. It will take me two weeks to rebuild her self-confidence—assuming she ever had any to begin with…
Leading this group is starting to feel like a Sisyphean task, and unfortunately, I have no one to blame but myself.

When the Wind Comes

About the Book

The novel unfolds through three storylines that gradually intertwine. The framing narrative follows Shulamit Klein, a divorced clinical psychologist with no children, standing at a personal and professional crossroads. Driven by both financial necessity and an emotional need for purpose, she creates a relationship workshop for young adults struggling with intimacy. Their personal stories form the second narrative thread, revealing vulnerability, tension, and shifting power dynamics.
At the heart of the book lies the third storyline: Maya’s story. Under hypnosis, another identity emerges within her—Yael, a Jerusalem student from an Iraqi family, torn between marrying her beloved Rami, who comes from an established Ashkenazi family, against the backdrop of the Yom Kippur War. The interplay between therapy, memory, trauma, and love raises profound questions about the ethical limits of psychological practice, moral responsibility, and the ways the past continues to shape the present.
The novel stands out for its sensitive, fluid, and precise prose, grounded in a deep understanding of psychology and the complexity of the human mind.
